Congratulations to all students on a very successful recital on August 4th! Despite blistering heat, nerves, and erratic practice due to vacation schedules, all the students managed to play very well. The pitch-in was great! In addition to being good musicians, you all are good cooks, too. We have a few serving dishes left behind from the recital, so if you are missing yours, please claim it at your next lesson.
School is back in full swing. Congratulations to Anne Fell, who kept her chair as principal viola at Carmel High School, and Charles Sing, who won third chair in the CHS Orchestra. Charles also won a musicianship award at the Indiana University Summer Orchestra Camp. Rachel Morris won an orchestra award at Fishers Junior High last spring.
For the month of September, I will not be teaching on Labor Day, September 2. Monday students may make up lessons on Thursday, September 5, if they choose. Please let me know so we can make arrangements. I will also have a conflict with Saturday, September 21 due to Richmond Symphony. Those Saturday students who choose to do so may make up their lesson on Thursday, September 19. Again, please let me know so arrangements can be made. Those are the only conflicts that I have in September so far.
I am open to coach 2 string quartets or small ensembles on a bi-weekly basis. Cost for these coachings will be $40/hour, which can be evenly divided between the ensembles' participants. I am available to do this only Saturday mornings at 9:00. If you are thinking about putting together a small ensemble for contest, now would be a great time to start working.
Good luck with the new school year! Before you know it, we’ll be preparing for solo-ensemble contest.
